I saw a million worlds
In a square meter of the forest floor
Dancing in the sunlight
And still I walked away
Saw the promise of the day
And I said it wouldn’t last
That I had to walk away
It was nothing personal you see
Simply business, forget the trees
That had to be cut down
Since economics justify who gets to live
Who has to die
Who gets to live
And so what if eternity
Gets crushed by industry
Is that so wrong, I ask
And you take me to task
Challenging my right
To alter history and what we see
So I call in the falling crew
Tell them to go ahead
It’s nothing new
And inside, I die today
As each chainsaw bites
Against the grain
I’m blue no matter what the others say
But in the end
I do forget
As the checks roll in
I start to reap a profit now
So damn you all
I’ll go ahead
Cutting the forest
Changing the world we know
As long as you will pay the price
To transform paradise
Into something we can never know
I’ll be ahead
So damn you all
Tonight
