Poetic License

I have poetic license to drive you

Round the bend

Bent truth

Stretching a little white lie to gargantuan

Big fish whoppers are way more fun

Poetic license to take a half awakened memory flash

A shadow of the truth

Reassemble pieces of what might have been the truth

At least somebody’s truth

Poetic license endorses my truth

Which stands on its own

Far away from the literal

But that doesn’t matter

I’m licensed

  1. very good one David, even though i read somewhere and really liked too that creative works should be based on reality or pure fantasy.

    • I like the grey areas where nothing is pure. How can fantasy not be partially attuned to reality and vice versa, after all? Rules? I don’t think we should agree to the constraints of somebody else’s narrow mind! Creative works are simply, utterly and ultimately creative.
